HiSky celebrated its 1 millionth passenger

11.04.2023

Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, upon landing at Avram Iancu International Airport, in Cluj Napoca, HiSky celebrated reaching its one million transported passengers milestone. The one millionth passenger traveled with HiSky on the domestic route Bucharest - Cluj, where he was greeted by the representatives of the company and the airport. To mark this important achievement, HiSky representatives also offered the lucky passenger a prize consisting of free flights for one year, on all routes operated by the company.

HiSky reaches this important milestone only two years after the official start of its operations. The one million passengers were transported by HiSky on its regular routes, to the 16 domestic and international destinations that the company has in its portfolio, as well as on charter flights, operated in partnership with the most important travel agencies in Romania.

"Just a month ago we were celebrating the anniversary of HiSky's first two years, and here we are now reaching a new target, extremely important for us. In a competitive market, the number of people who choose to buy the service you offer, over others is, in fact, the main tool by which success must be measured. Although we are still a young company, it seems that the seriousness and professionalism we have demonstrated in these years have already convinced a million passengers to give us their trust. We are proud to have earned this trust, but, more than that, to have always been able to confirm to our passengers that they made the right choice," said Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky.

According to the traffic forecasts and the company’s expansion strategy for the fleet and the number of destinations, HiSky estimates to reach the target of 2 million transported passengers by the end of the year. Recently, the company began operating flights with its sixth aircraft, an Airbus A321LR, manufactured in 2023. This is only the first of three new aircraft that HiSky plans to introduce to the fleet this year.

The event that celebrated crossing the threshold of 1 million passengers was hosted by Avram Iancu International Airport. In addition to the Bucharest - Cluj Napoca route, operated with a frequency of two return flights per day, six days per week, the airline also operates from this airport regular flights to Tel Aviv and Dublin, as well as charter flights to the most visited holiday destinations.

"Perhaps it is not by chance that the 1 millionth passenger traveled today on a Bucharest - Cluj flight. Cluj-Napoca is the first operational base we opened in Romania and it remains an airport that has contributed significantly to our development. I thank the passengers here but also the airport management with whom we have an extremely good partnership, even since our first flights here", added Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky.

Along with HiSky management, representatives of Avram Iancu airport were also present at the event.

David Ciceo, Managing Director of Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport, said on this occasion:

"We particularly appreciate HiSky's decision to be here today at Cluj International Airport to celebrate for the first time the threshold of 1,000,000 registered passengers, on all operated flights since the debut of this airline until today. This decision honors us and strengthens the position of Cluj International Airport as the country's first regional airport, being at the same time a reference airport in the South-Eastern Europe.

The first quarter of 2023 brought spectacular traffic increases for the airport, creating the premises for a record passenger traffic that we anticipate in the summer season. That is why we are pleased to announce that Cluj International Airport will also celebrate, most likely in mid-May, its first million passengers threshold this year.

Last but not least, I would like to thank and congratulate HiSky airline for its performance, and through our joint efforts we will continue to offer as many travel options as possible to our passengers, to be appreciated by all segments of traffic, namely business or tourist traffic. "

HiSky operates direct international flights departing from the airports of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Baia Mare and Chisinau, domestic flights on the Bucharest - Cluj Napoca and Bucharest - Timișoara routes, as well as charter flights, in partnership with the largest travel agencies in Romania. The company operates a fleet of six aircraft from the Airbus A320 family, namely four A320 aircraft with 180 seats, an A319 aircraft in a configuration of 144 seats and an Airbus A321LR aircraft with 201 seats. In May, the HiSky fleet will expand to seven aircraft, the company is currently waiting for the reception of a second Airbus A321LR aircraft.
